Snowflake Challenge 1: Rec your own work

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This isn't a secret to anyone who knows me, but I LOVE my own stories. I really, really do. Since I couldn't narrow it down to three fanworks, how about three per fandom?

Highlander

Olive branch (2515 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Highlander: The Series
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Relationships: Methos/Original Female Character
Characters: Methos
Additional Tags: Judaism, Grief, Historical, Crusades, Backstory
Summary:

Methos recalls the death of his wife and family during the Crusades.

Why I'm reccing it: Part of what drew me to Highlander was the the idea of Immortals outliving their loved ones. "Who wants to live forever, when love must die?" I also like the way that this story bridges between Death and the Methos we meet today.

The Secret War (23926 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 14/14
Fandom: Highlander: The Series
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Joe Dawson, Methos
Additional Tags: Watchers, Immortals, Secrets, Original Character(s), Season/Series 04, Hunters, Diary/Journal, Watchers Diaries, Conspiracy, Character of Faith, POV First Person
Series: Part 2 of The Dawson Chronicles
Summary:

Joe Dawson and Methos take on the Hunters.

Why I'm reccing it: I like the way that I wrote an epic story about Joe and Methos taking on the Hunters in a way that is canon-compliant, because the show canon is from Duncan's POV. There's a particular scene here, with a confrontation between Joe and Methos, that still gets me every time I re-read it, seven years later.

Dissonance (903 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Highlander: The Series
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Duncan MacLeod, Methos
Additional Tags: The Gathering, POV First Person
Summary:

Methos is among the first to realize that the Gathering has already begun.

Why I'm reccing it: The Gathering is one of the most gruesome bits of canon in existence, for any show. The story is tight, and tense, and I made every single word push the characters, and the readers, the direction they needed to go.

due South

Con Job (5422 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: due South
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski, Ray Kowalski/Original Male Character
Characters: Ray Kowalski, Benton Fraser, Original Characters
Additional Tags: Undercover
Summary:

Undercover was easy, and Ray was good at it.

Why I'm reccing it: due South is such a bright, fun show, but I always had a rather dark take on the characters. The idea that Ray Kowalski is undercover as Ray Vecchio is played for laughs on the show; here I took it very seriously, and I love where that led me. Some readers take this as an AU, but this is the RayK of my heart.

Outside the Tent (293 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: due South
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Characters: Benton Fraser, Ray Kowalski
Additional Tags: Dark
Summary:

Fraser takes a long, hard look at himself during the Quest, and doesn't like what he sees.

Why I'm reccing it: Remember what I said about having a dark take on characters in dS? Well, here's another example. This is an entire story told in under 300 words, and I am very proud of it!

Leaving a Mark (2767 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: due South
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Characters: Ray Kowalski, Benton Fraser
Additional Tags: Kink, PWP, Established Relationship, Knifeplay, Marking, BDSM
Summary:

Ray and Fraser explore a new kink together.

Why I'm reccing it: Here, have some porn! Some happy, healthy, blood/pain/knife kink porn. No, really. This story is bright and shiny.

Supernatural

Ride the Lightning (7272 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester
Additional Tags: College, Case Fic, Sexual Identity, Queer Gen, Original Character(s), Season/Series 02, Ghosts, Homophobia, Gay Male Character

Why I'm reccing it: This is my love note to Supernatural. It's the Winchester brothers on a case, doing their thing, together. It makes me very, very happy every time I read it. And it's queer gen!

Runaways (10172 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Original Female Character
Additional Tags: POV Outsider, Case Fic, Weechesters, POV First Person, POV Female Character, POV Original Character
Summary:

We lost seven teenage boys from the shelter in the summer of '97. The last were a pair of brothers so wrapped up in each other that I never had a chance to save them. Their names were Sam and Dean.

Why I'm reccing it: I love playing with unreliable narrators. Making sure that your readers know what's going on in a story, even while the narrator doesn't, is tricky but SO rewarding. I love my original character here, Maddy, and this story let me share my view of the Winchester boys back when they were teenagers.

Sacraments (3299 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Underage
Relationships: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Pre-Canon, Dark, Demon Dean Winchester, Underage Sex, Power Dynamics, Demons, Bloodplay, Community: sammessiah, Dark Sam Winchester, Blasphemy, POV First Person, Original Character(s), Podfic Available, Podfic
Summary:

I’ve been known by a thousand names over the ages. Raum, Akoman, Mara, Azazel’s Hound. Lately, I go by Dean Winchester.

Why I'm reccing this: I wrote a lot of Wincest! Some of it's hot, and some of it's compelling, and some of it's both. This is a dark AU that slides neatly into canon. I particularly like what I did with Dean's voice, and how that informs readers' understanding of the fic. The story leaves me all shivery.

Sherlock

VID: Children's Work (106 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sherlock (TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Greg Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes
Additional Tags: Post Reichenbach, Families of Choice, Neurodiversity, Character Study, Embedded Video, Fanvids, Video Format: Streaming, Video Format: AVI
Summary:

The closest thing to a friend that Sherlock Holmes is capable of having...

Why I'm reccing it: Oh, right, I vid as well! I'm rarely satisfied with my vids, though. They never seem to do quite what I wanted them to. This vid is the exception. It's the story of two unusual men who never quite fit anywhere, until they found how they fit together. It's also a post-Reichenbach narrative from Sherlock's POV, which is still rather rare.

Murder Will Out (1608 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sherlock (TV)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Sherlock Holmes
Additional Tags: Character Study, Murder, Neurodiversity, Season/Series 01
Summary:

It had become something of a hobby, over the years. Along with profession, marital status, and general habits, Sherlock would attempt to ascertain what might drive this individual to kill, and what method they would likely employ.

Why I'm reccing it: The thing I love about Sherlock is how he's not 'normal'. This is the story where I think I really managed to get into his head and show it to readers. I love it when I get comments to the effect of, "This was sweet, but also kind of disturbing." Because, yes, Sherlock is.

A Story of Names (6530 words) by keerawa
Chapters: 6/6
Fandom: Sherlock (TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms, Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Major Character Death
Relationships: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Original Character
Additional Tags: Fae & Fairies, Alternate Universe - Fae, Crossover, Time Skips, POV Multiple, POV First Person, POV Original Character, Fairy Tales, POV Third Person Limited, Storytelling, Names, Reincarnation
Series: Part 1 of These are the Stories We Tell Ourselves
Summary:

Being an account of the adventures of a fae lost in the great city of London.

Why I'm reccing it: This story gave me a chance to explore a very different character voice and some of my favorite themes - identity, loyalty, and a-romantic love. Faerie tales and reincarnation and imaginary friends that are not-so imaginary!

Do have a look, if any of those stories strike your interest! And I enthusiastically encourage any and all forms of transformative works, so if anyone out there has ever considered a podfic, remix, sequel, translation, artwork, or ANYTHING based on any of my work, I would be truly delighted by it!
