I am the tall, richly-hued matriarch of this field of flowers. The others tremble at the hum of bees. They attract their pollinators with subtle ultraviolet patterns and sweet nectar, coaxing them close enough to collect pollen on their bodies. My own procreative process is somewhat more demanding.

Two humans follow a well-defined path through my field. I pick up the vibration of their cries through my sensitive out-stretched pistils.

“- just a bunch of Wiccans, seem pretty harmless. I mean, that fertility rite might have some weird effects, but there was no sign of any black magic or blood rituals.”

The smaller one veers off the path and moves towards me. That’s right. Come closer, human.

“Dude. Check out this flower. Is it me, or does that thing look like a girl's-”

“Yeah,” the taller interrupts him, bending over to inspect me. “I always thought Georgia O’Keefe had a great imagination, but maybe she just had a garden of these to draw.”

I waft my scent towards them. The taller one crashes to its knees on the pollen-laden ground.

“Sam,” the other calls out, crouching down beside its companion. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” the tall one mumbles. “Just … ummm … feeling hot,” it says, fumbling to remove its coverings.

“Yeah,” the smaller one agrees, reaching out to help, “you look, uh, hot.”

A short time later, the two of them stagger off, bare skin and hastily reattached coverings thoroughly coated in my sticky golden pollen.

Ah, it’s good to be a flower.

This one made me griiiiin when I read it. 83 I can't help it, I love this sort of cliche. XD And what a perfect excuse for a fic like that.
