Vidder's Commentary:
About the opening: The Offspring snagged that fake German countdown from Def Leppard's 'Rock of Ages'. 'Rock of Ages' was used at the start of the cemetary scene in 'Swan Song'. So I just HAD to use the clip of Dean sticking the Def Leppard casette in! The Offspring as wannabes of Def Leppard, the Ghostfacers as wannabes of the Winchesters, and lil old me? I'm just a fan of remix culture.

(Since I used a single clip from the last episode of SPN, I also felt compelled to use one clip from the first - hey there Impala trunk at 1:26!)

Ed and Harry are always performing for an audience. In the first sequence, that audience is Dean Smith and Sam Wesson, innocent office workers trying to deal with a deadly ghost. As goofy as they are, the Ghostfacers do some good, and these'instructional videos' are a part of that. I wanted to start with them in that position of authority, of power. Because if I'm mocking Ed and Harry, I'm mocking from a place of love. Eventually they'll be performing for Maggie, Corbett and Kenny, for the Internet, and for Hollywood.

Throughout the vid I tried to play with POV, tossing back and forth who is speaking, who is the real thing, and who the wannabe. But one thing's for sure - the Ghostfacers NEVER perform for the Winchesters.

I LOVE THIS. Totally spot on with music and editing. Whatever annoyance Harry and Ed ever engendered in me was GONE by the end of the vid.

Excellent!

Yay! I stuck this song in my "To Be Vidded" playlist over a year ago, knowing I had to find just the right characters for it. Then when I rewatched 'Ghostfacers', it sprang from my creative brain like Athena from Zeus' forehead.

Ed and Harry really grew on me while I was working on the project. I actually got a bit pissed off with Dean along the way, though.

Thanks for the comment, labseraph!

This was a lovely bit of cracky fun! I loved the lyric matching for "overcompensate" at the 1:00 mark. I also appreciate how much thought went into this. Who says crack has to be superficial?

As for concrit, I think placing all the credits at the beginning slowed down the pacing of the vid. The intro is fast-moving and fun and then you basically have a static frame for 10 seconds. Also, I don't know if it was due to the upload or not, but the ending seems cut off. I actually like how it ends on a door slam, but adding a teeny bit of black to the very end or a fast fade out would've gone a long way to make the cut seem intentional rather than a technical mistake.

The overcompensate bit makes me go wheeeee! The writers of SPN put a fair bit of thought and care into their crack, so it's only right we should, too.

I really appreciate the concrit! I'm always a bit stuck on credits - I know some people read text slower than others, so I try to keep it pretty slow and stable. Of course, I've never had credits in the MIDDLE of a vid before, so that does screw with the pacing. And that's a brilliant idea about a fast fade at the end, especially since the upload does seem to be cutting it shorter than my original. Thanks so much!

Thanks mamaffy! You know the hilarious part about that chorus? At 1:20, when I have them doing the slow-mo hero walk? I actually had to SPEED THAT UP from the original!

This was fantastic! I love it! Great use of intercutting the Winchester with the Ghostfacers, and also really nice editing to the beats or breakdowns in the song - you used those moments brilliantly to highlight the total lameness of the ghostfacer crew, in perfect counterpoint to the theme of the whole song. LOL! A keeper, definitely! Thank yoU!

Thanks kimboosan! to highlight the total lameness of the ghostfacer crew *snickers* Although, I have to say, in working on this vid I came to sympathize with them. I mean, no one can decide to be the Winchesters. But anyone, with the right internet connection and just a touch of crazy, can be a Ghostfacer.
