Seven Questions Meme

Gakked from write_lightComment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random.

Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

For any of your that are new around here, my sense of what's socially appropriate may be a wild mismatch with yours, so feel free to ignore any questions that cross your boundaries, invade your personal Normandy, etc.

1. I'm coming to your town for dinner. Where are you taking me, and why? (and it can't be somewhere we've already gone) :D What will we order? This is your audition for the Food Network, so make me taste it!
My own personal favorite would be the Farmer's Dish from Mediterranean Kitchen a few blocks away from my home. It's a big portion of marinated grilled chicken wings with a creamy garlic sauce, served over rice with salad, hummus, lentil soup, and a tiny little baklava. I eat there about once a week. SO MUCH GARLIC. SO GOOD. The restaurant itself is tiny, 8 little tables in front of an open kitchen, run by a Lebanese family.

2. High school class reunions - (mine's this summer) - worth it or not? (For you or in general). Tips? Pitfalls?
I hit my 20th a couple of years ago. I thought it was worth it to see a handful of people who I was close with in high school - I'm terrible about keeping in touch long-distance. My biggest piece of advice is, like weddings and proms and other Big Events, let go of the hype and expectations and just go have some fun.

3. Link (just a link) to a picture of a natural environment you find exceptionally beautiful.
Lake Crescent in the Hoh Rainforest. Beautiful and peaceful.

4. When your favorite TV show ends, how will you cope with the grief? (Seriously - major grief!)
Actually, it doesn't bother me when a show I love ends. I always feel like the professionals have stepped away and left the characters in our loving hands. I'm upset if a show ends BADLY, in a way that in unsatisfying or not worthy of the show. But even then, I'm glad to have them be OURS, the fans.

5. If you had to do a research paper about consumerism and consumption, what question would drive it?
Starving at the Banquet: How the American Media has Created Unrealistic and Destructive Expectations in the Mind of Its Consumers

6. Do you worry that memes like this are building a rich source of online data that will one day become an indistinguishable cybernetic replicant of you?
No - I don't think it's possible. If it were, that would be AWESOME!

7. What other show/pairing/fandom has gotten or could get its hooks into you?
I find myself quite taken with the BBC's Sherlock right now. Fans multiple interpretations of the internal truth behind Sherlock's canonical actions and statements are fascinating!

That pic is beautiful! VERY restful and serene.

Re #6: Did you watch "Caprica"? :D

I am enjoying Sherlock very much but not fannish so far.

I have not watched Caprica. But, you know, that's what I do, in my head. I build models of people based on their actions and statements and responses.

That's where the Cylons came from ;D

Sure, go for it. (And if I just can't answer one, I'll let you know and ask for a replacement.)

1) What's your favorite dessert?

2) How do you center yourself when you and/or the world starts to get a little crazy?

3) Tell me about an epiphany you've had in your life.

4) How do you exert your will upon the world?

5) What animal (or plant, or object) do you think would represent you in the Dreaming, and why?

6) What your current relationship status?

7) I know that you're some flavor of pagan. Could you tell a bit about your personal spiritual beliefs and practices?

Lake Crescent in the Hoh Rainforest. Beautiful and peaceful.

Ohhhh, that's lovely. I looked at it and... remembered to breathe. And enjoy it. *does it again for good measure*

I'm teasing myself with the promise of Sherlock. I've already decided that "because Benedict Cumberbatch" is sufficient reason for pretty much anything.

The lake is even better in person. Its in the rainforest, so the air is damp and rich with scents. It is very quiet there.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a very engaging fellow, isn't he? I almost didn't recognize him when I first saw a video of him, out of character. So different from Sherlock!

A pleasure to meet you, athgarven. You have some temperate rainforests in Ireland, as I recall. Have you ever visited one?
Feb. 21st, 2012 11:02 am (UTC)
Hi. Yes we have temperate rainforests here in Ireland but they are unfortunately quite small now due to agriculture and felling. The characteristic dominant broadleaf trees here include oaks, beeches, maples, and birches. There are also coniferous trees - Pines, firs, and spruces.
