No Lady [PG] gen Sherlock drabble

Title: No Lady
Characters: Sherlock, John, OC
Rating: PG
Length: 100
Spoilers/Warnings: None
Disclaimer: These characters belong to the BBC, Moffat, and possibly ACD.
Summary: This time, John's not the least bit impressed by Sherlock's deductions.

“That,” Sherlock concluded triumphantly as he spun away from the witness, “is no lady.”

The room burst into laughter and spontaneous applause.

‘Lady Appensby’, a glamorously-dressed young transsexual whose business cards decorated the area’s phone-booths, fled to the loo. Sherlock had publically deduced some very private details about the steps she went through to appear female.

John glared at Sherlock. “I’m sure that young lady was verbally harassed by police before we arrived,” he whispered furiously. “You know how they treat prostitutes. But, congratulations, you’re the one who made her cry. Anderson’ll probably buy you a pint.”

Sherlock looked appalled.

God, yes. Sherlock spouting off all of these incredibly personal things in front of a room full of cops - it's a nightmare.

*agrees* Sherlock Holmes - much as I love him, he's a bit of a dick. Thanks, Rhi!

At least 'Sherlock looked appalled.' Bing an optimist, maybe, just maybe, he'll learn to hold his tongue on occasion.

I think John really is a good influence, long-term. Thanks for the comment!

Nice! Although, unlike sif_aka_joanna's optimistic viewpoint, I took SH's appalled expression to be a result of earning a pint from Anderson rather than hurting the poor lady's feelings. Good for John in attempting to teach his friend to be somewhat polite :)

I have to agree with you. Sherlock doesn't give a damn about upsetting random people. But having impressed Anderson, that's just not on! (John knows how to make an impression.)
