Meme: Talking with Characters

Gakked via gryphonrhi:
Ask my characters a question. I make you no promises they'll tell the truth, however....

Please, ask away. I need a kick in the ass to get some writing done this weekend. I'm willing to take a swing at any character I've so much as mentioned in a story!

My question is for Maddy. I'd like to know if she ever thought about Sam and Dean again, or ever wondered if there was more to them than she glimpsed.

Oh, Sam and Dean? There was a time when I rmembered them in my prayers nightly. I still do, a few times a year. I wonder if Dean got his GED. If they managed to make it out from under their abusive father and whatever Vida Loca they were trapped in. If they did, I know it's because they did it together.

And that's the point, you know? I don't remember the boys as a failure. (Although I could have done better, done more, if I knew then what I know now.) I remember them because of how strong they were together, the way they looked out for each other.

CPS is known for doing one thing - breaking up families. Sometimes that's all you can do, to keep kids safe. Remove them from an abusive or neglectful home. But I remember Sam and Dean, and I look for the love, for the bonds between family. I find it between brothers, or a little girl and her auntie, or a couple of gang-members, the neighbor who takes care of a baby when it's mother passes out in the front yard, or the one teenage girl that looks after the little ones in a foster home. And when I do, I know that's my job, right there - do what I can to run interference, provide the support they need, and let those people, those families, be there for each other.

Joe, which drives you crazier: Watchers or Immortals?

Well, that's a Hell of a question.

You mean in general? Because no Immortal's ever made me do paperwork, so that puts them one up over the Council any day. Heh.

Or could be you're talking about the worst of both. In which case ... I think I'd wonder just what your angle might be.

::giggling:: No, I meant the day to day frustrations, not the 'special cases.' ::amused:: Although sorting out the truth:BS ratio form Methos sounds like paperwork, or at least research, to me?

Nah, that's just an evening's entertainment.
