Drabble: And he swore he'd never go back

Fandom: Highlander

Challenge: Written for the highlander100 Challenge #124 - "Back"

Methos revived and stared at the patch of sky far above.

"There's no way out," a cold voice mocked in an ancient tongue. Methos scrambled away. A blue-painted figure stepped out of the shadows. "Not for you." Death drew his sword.

Screams echoed from the cave walls. The spring tasted of sulfur and his own blood as he drowned. In the end, Methos wanted to survive more than Death wanted to kill him.

Methos woke beside Alexa with a gasp. He soothed her back to sleep and dialed his voice-mail.

"Adam, this is Joe. Mac's … it's a Dark Quickening."

Very nicely done.

Question, though: "service" kinda threw me for a moment. I think of service as something that has an operator answering the phone. Would dialing his voice-mail work maybe a bit better?

btw, sorry I never got back to you on the beta. Life got ungodly busy again and stayed that way for a while.

You see, this is why I need you neta'ing for me! Fixed!

No worries, of course. I know there are times when life is sane, and times when it is NOT.

I think I'm up for doing beta work again. Life is a *little* calmer ;). Send me whatever, whenever.
