5 favorite vids meme

Because I resorted to extorsion to get killabeez to answer her own meme.

My 5 favorite vids

1) The one I'm working on right now!
Which is always true, actually. While I'm making a vid, I fall in love with it. Every single time. I say, "Look at the pretty!" and, "Oh, that's a GREAT match for that lyric!" and "I'm so clever!" And I jump up and down. Then I send it to a beta, and they help shrink my swollen head with insightful comments like, "Umm, that's not coming across to me at all." and "Were you trying to switch POVs here?" and "I don't think anyone's going to realize that you're trying to subvert the lyrics in that section." and "That's such a context-heavy clip, you might want to choose a more neutral one." and the occasional "Huh?" And then I fix it. Hopefully.

I'm usually rather disappointed with my vids in hindsight. But when I'm making them it's all romance, roses, and candy. So, right now, my very favorite vid ever is "Am I Getting Through?" (due South), because it's the one I'm still working on.

2) "Crown of Thorns" (Highlander)
Because I'm convinced Brian Cullen was one of the great loves of Duncan's life, and I haven't been able to write it yet, but I vidded it. Because I still get a shiver at, "This is my kinda love, it's the kind that moves on." Because Highlander's a fucking tragedy, and so is this vid, but in the end it's all about the redemptive power of love.

3) "Alienation" (Farscape)
Because the song pops and hops and so does the vid. Because it's fast and funny, and then it hits with a touch of sad. And I reveled in the freedom of having no lyrics at all.

4) "Battle of Evermore" (Highlander)
This is my "two-for-one" vid. I made a video with what I thought was an interesting plotline. Pretty much everyone who watched it saw a vid with a very different story, and commented on it. So now, every time I watch it, I get to enjoy BOTH stories in one vid.

5) "Lightning Rod" (Jeremiah)
Because I think I actually managed to use effects to tell a fairly tight and complex little story. Ah, Jeremiah, so bitter-sweet.

I'll add my most ambitious failure. I have a Serenity AU vid in which everyone DIES. River and the Operative are Light and Dark angels battling to determine the final destination of the souls of the crew. Extremely cool idea. Looks gorgeous. And if anyone wants to come over to my house and have me talk them through it frame by frame, it might actually make sense.

Aw, hee! *pets you* I made a vid like that once -- it's the only one that never saw the light of day. Well, elyn saw it, and she confirmed that, yes, you're right, that is totally not working. *g*

Now I need to watch Lightning Rod again. :)

Well, hey, at least creating that vid got it out of my head. Which is about 1/4 of why I write and vid in the first place.

I am intrigued by your Serenity AU! I have a vid I made like that, too, and Angel vid that in my head is this wondrous thing but that got resounding silence from multiple betas. It wasn't pretty.

I really love this meme.

At least you get to enjoy it there!

I agree, this meme is fun.
