Oh Canada

So in honor of Canada Day, I started watching Flashpoint. We just watched the episode with the transplant girl, and in the immortal words of my beloved, "Dude! They are SO CANADIAN!" This is the polar opposite of 'The Shield.' I am fascinated and head over heels in love. Canadian folks - are teh rules of engagement seriously THAT different for Canadian SWAT, or are we pie in the skying it?

Ah, the transplant one is my favourite. I don't know if they're pie-in-the-sky but the general word seems to be that law enforcement officers really like the show, so. Either they like it because it's true to their experience or they like it because it's true to the experience they wish they could have. The flashpoint twitter feed told us yesterday, for instance, that Hugh was stopped by 6 undercover NYPD undercover cops who showed their badges and told him they like the show. So... FWIW.

The ETF in Toronto is not a SWAT unit, per se, and I think the show tries to be as true to the SOP as they can. Lots of consulting goes on, anyway. So yeah, I think that's about how they roll, with some license for drama.

"He's a subject, not a perp." "This is a father having a really bad day." Awwwwwwwww. It makes me want to emigrate to Canada!
